Hello Friends!
So here we are. Day three of shooting for Supervillains Anonymous. I write to you from Chapman University in good ol' Orange, CA: Home of the Ridiculously Wealthy.
This has been a pretty awesome experience so far. I've worked on big, professional projects before, and I've been heavily involved in projects, but never at the same time. There are actual grips and gaffers and 1st AD's and 2nd AD's, and PA's and all that s#!t. And people get legitimately upset when I try to do anything other than standing in front of a camera and talking. It's kinda freaking me out.
I suppose this is how "real" film shoots work, but I'm used to doing things where the actors are also the crew, because our budget is -$200. I feel like such an a$$#0!e just sitting around while the crew does all kinds of work. And then Jacob yells "Talent stepping on!" every time they need me onset. Seriously, if I ever let this go to my head, please come smack me. All of you.
Although one bonus I'm not complaining about is the sleeping arrangements. Since we're shooting this all down in Orange County, and I don't have a car, rather than have me take the train back and forth all day, Steven, the producer, is letting my crash at his place. And despite all my furious protestations, he's made me sleep on the bed while he's taking the couch. I have to say, though. His bed is much more comfortable than mine. Although that's not hard to do, since my bed is just two foam pads on the ground.
It's very interesting to talk to all the other actors and see the different paths everyone has taken to get to this point. For instance, Michael, who plays Barry in the film, was an agent for 15 years and actually started his own agency. Then he sold it and became a motivational speaker. Then he stopped and moved back to LA to become an actor. Amazing! Claudia, who plays Gloria, is a legitimate international model, and has in fact been hit on by Bruce Willis. He gave her his number and SHE DIDN'T CALL HIM BACK. Mad props for that one.
I might be just a stupid kid who's too green to know he should be jaded about all this, but I love it. Even though I'm working 12+ hours a day for free, I absolutely love every minute of this. If I could do this for the rest of my life, I would be the happiest person in the world.
And, for just a little taste to whet your appetite for all things supervillianous, here's a production still from yesterday:
